Whatever the cost, these characters have to be the center of attention. They can resort to behaviour that other people may consider embarrassing or over-the-top, but the Attention Seeker has such blind focus on getting noticed, that they don’t care. It often doesn’t matter if the attention they receive is negative or positive, as long as all eyes are on them.
